Actor Amjad Khan, who played Gabbar Singh's memorable character in Hindi cinema's most famous film 'Sholay', said goodbye to this world on July 27, 1992. The actor died due to heart attack.  Amjad Khan was just 51 years old. Born on November 12, 1940 in Peshawar, Amjad Khan was not the first choice for Gabbar's character in the movie 'Sholay'. Actor Danny was first approached for Gabbar's role. However, actor Danny was busy shooting for Feroz Khan's movie 'Dharmatma' at that time and due to this the actor left the film 'Sholay'. After this, Gabbar's character got to actor Amjad Khan. Let us tell you that Salman Khan's father Salim Khan suggested the name of Amjad Khan for the film 'Sholay'.

Actor Amjad Khan made his foray into the industry as a child actor from the movie 'Nazneen' in the year 1951. He was only 17 at that time. If actor Amjad Khan were twenty of us today, he would have been 78 years old. Amjad Khan has made his own identity in the world by playing Gabbar Singh's role in the film 'Sholay'. His role became immortal forever. Amjad made his debut as a hero in the film industry in the year 1973 with the movie 'Hindustan Ki Kasam', however, the actor got recognition from the film Sholay, which came in the year 1975. Let us know that actor Amjad was very fond of drinking tea. He used to drink thirty cups of tea every day and when he did not get tea, it was difficult for him to do work.
