One of the famous Tamil playback singers, Bamba Bakya, who recently sang the song Ponni Nadhi in Mani Ratnam's, Pooniyin Selvan Part 1died on Friday. He was 49. His cause of death is yet to be ascertained. However, a few reports suggest he suffered a cardiac arrest. Bamba Bakya was launched by AR Rahman in Rajinikanth’s 2.0, a sequel to Shankar’s hit, Enthiran: The Robot. Ponni Nadhi too, is composed by AR Rahman.

As soon as the news catches the eyeballs of people they started praying for him. Shanthanu Bhagyaraj wrote on Twitter, “Loved his voice. Gone too soon. #Rip #bambabakya anna.” Singer-composer Santhosh Dhayanidhi tweeted, “Rest In peace brother @bambabakya #bambabakya gone too soon.” One fan wrote, “It’s shocking. A great singer is no more. Pullinangal will always resonate in our ears. Working with him in Kaalame n Simtangaran is a special experience. My thought goes out to his family and  A R Rahman sir

Bamba Bakya's first film was Ravanan. He sang the song Kida Kida Kari adupula Kidaku in the film along with Benny Dayal. After this, AR Rahman continued to give opportunities to sing in his films like Sarkar, Bigil, Iravin Nizhal. This made Bamba Bakya very famous. He had also sung the super hit song 'Simtaangaran' from Vijay-starrer 'Sarkar' directed by AR Murugadoss, in AR Rahman's music. Bamba Bakya has also sung the song 'Ponni Nadi' in the film 'Ponniyin Selvan' directed by Mani Ratnam. In 2.0, he sang the hit number Pullinangal. In the same year, he sang again for A.R Rahman in Vijay’s Sarkar. He was a constant collaborator with AR Rahman.
