A 32-year-old security guard working at cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's house has lodged a complaint with the Bandra police station after he was a victim of cyber fraud. Based on the complaint lodged by Manish Manjrekar, police have registered a case under various sections of the Cheating and Information Technology Act, 2000. According to the Bandra police, Manjrekar, 32, a resident of Mhada Colony in Chembur, works as a security guard at Tendulkar's residence. He lives in Chembur with his two children, wife, mother and brother.

On Wednesday, he received a call from a man as an employee of Kotak Mahindra Bank, who asked him if he needed a loan. When Manjrekar replied in the affirmative, the caller has asked him to share photocopies of Aadhaar card, photocopy of PAN card and details about debit card and credit card. After sharing the details, Manjrekar immediately received a message that ₹10,000 had been deposited in his Kotak Mahindra savings bank account.

Such a fraud took place: The police officer has said that after which the man immediately called Manjrekar and said that he will now get one-time password (OTP) which he needs to share with him. When Manjrekar shared the OTP with him, the ₹10,000 initially deposited in his account was deducted. Later, he also made a purchase of ₹8,200 from Manjrekar's credit card. When Manjrekar tried to reach the man, his phone was   switched off. However, the next day the fraudster called him again saying that if he paid him ₹10,000, he could sanction and credit a loan of ₹1.50 lakh in the savings bank account.

Realising that she was duped by the man, Manisha Manjrekar went to Bandra police station and lodged a complaint against the fraudster. A police officer at Bandra police station has said, "We are trying to identify the location of bank accounts used for fraudsters and transactions. Senior police inspector Rajesh Devare of Bandra police station confirmed the incident.
