Kavya, who was last seen in UV Creations' Telugu film Ek Mini Katha, was arrested by Juhu police in the early hours of Friday in a drunk and drive case. Kavya was on her way home from a party, and she was drunk. She rammed her car into a parked car outside Mumbai's Marriot hotel.

Kavya misbehaved with one of the Nirbhaya team's female officers after they were brought to the scene, even grabbing her collar and pushing the lady constable down, shocking many. Kavya was charged with reckless driving, drunken driving, and criminal force on a public servant. She has been placed in the Byculla women's prison, where she will remain till she is given bail.
