This year's Diwali festival is good in terms of pollution control. Compared to the previous year, this year's Diwali celebrations are mainly measured by Particle Matter 2.5 and Particle Matter 10. According to observations from the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB), pm 2.5 on Diwali was 64 on Saturday, while pm 2.5 was 74 at the Diwali celebrations last year. Similarly, during this Diwali, particulate matter 10 was 128 and last year it was 163.4.
"Compared to the normal day, i.e. with the average of the last seven days, THE LEVELS OF PM 2.5 andPM10 have increased slightly. This year, wind speed will help to disperse more than last year," said a senior PCB official. TSPCB regularly monitors ambient air quality (Acec) with respect to particle synthesis, gases and noise levels in the city and at various places in Telangana. Special purpose diwaliaakumonitoring is being done from 7 th to 21st November in accordance with thedirections of central pollution control board (CPCB).
In addition to measuring air quality levels, the Pollution Control Board monitors noise levels in and around the city through continuous real-time noise monitoring stations in ten different locations. The sound data of November 9 is taken as diwali data before Diwali and november 14. According to pcb read, noise levels have also fallen in industrial, commercial, residential and sensitive zones during day and night. Noise pollution was found to be low in the sensitive zone, with noise levels falling from 55 decibels (DB) in the last year to 42 DB this Diwali.
