The police commissioner of Avadi, located in north Chennai, has said that the executive officer of a temple in Siruvachur, located near Perambalur, had complained in this regard.

It was said that YouTuber Karthik Gopinath opened a YouTube channel in the name of 'Ilaya Bharatam' and asked people to send money through 'Milap' fundraising site. He has also spoken about the repair of temples located in Arulmigu Madhura Kaliamman complex. They have been accused of using this amount 'for themselves'. Condemning this detention, BJP state president K Annamalai in Tamil Nadu has said that the police should release the innocent and arrest them directly.

He is also said to be close to the YouTuber. Through 'Milap', Karthik Gopinath had so far deposited more than 33 lakh rupees. He had said in his appeal that the idols in the said temple have been vandalized by miscreants. Through 'Milap' money is deposited for social work and medical emergency.
