New Delhi: Talking about global road accident accidents, India has 11% share in it. Recently Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, 'Concrete efforts have reduced accidents.' He said this at a virtual road safety program organized by the World Bank.

He also said during this time, '3.14% of the country's GDP has been lost due to road accidents'. Nitin Gadkari is the Minister of Road Transport, Highways and MSME. He says, 'There are about 5 lakh road accidents in India every year in which 1.5 lakh people are killed and 3 lakh people are crippled. 11% of global road accidents occur in India. 3.14% of the national GDP is lost due to road accidents.' He also said, 'Our government is making hard efforts to prevent these accidents. Our road accidents have been reduced by 20% compared to earlier and we are currently working hard for this. Those making faulty road designs will get severe punishment. '

He further said, "Looking at the efforts of the government, we are confident that this may reduce further in the coming time and we are constantly trying for it". During this, he also cited the example of Tamil Nadu and said, 'There has been a decrease in road accidents and deaths in this state.' This has been possible only due to the Motor Vehicle Act.
