Tibet: A 99-foot-tall Buddha monument and 45 prayer wheels were destroyed by Chinese officials in the Sichuan province of Tibet's Draggo district. They also forced monks from the Gaden Namgyal Ling monastery and local Tibetans to see the precious statue being desecrated, which began on December 12 and lasted for nine days.
Authorities in Sichuan province forced Tibetan monks and other people to watch the Buddha statue being dismantled after receiving official complaints that it was built too high. Local Tibetans and monks who were compelled to witness the demolition claim that they had all the legal documentation for the enormous Buddha statue's construction and that it was demolished six years after it was created by Chinese officials. The Buddha statue was built in Draggo County, Kham, Tibet in 2015 with the help of local Tibetans to avoid famine, conflict, and natural disasters such as fire, water, earth, and air.
In response to the matter, author Brahma Chellaney pointed out on Twitter that China was following in the footsteps of the Taliban. During the Taliban's first reign in Afghanistan before to the US invasion, they destroyed innumerable religious artefacts, the most noteworthy of which were two huge Buddha sculptures created in the sixth century. According to Chellaney, China is on its way to eradicating Tibetan culture and is following in the footsteps of the Taliban.
