Tirupati Trust requests Finance Minister to replace demonetized notes

Demonetisation took place in November 2016 by the Modi government. After that, the notes of 500 and 1000 had stopped but now shocking news has come. These notes are being donated in temples till date. According to the recently reported news, about 50 crore old notes have been found in the Tirupati Balaji temple in Andhra Pradesh. These notes are being said to have been donated in the last few months. Recently Tirupati Trust chairman YV Subbareddy has met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and requested to replace these old notes.

Due to corona and lockdown, donations have not been made in Tirupati temple, even if it has happened, very little. When the temples are open since June 11, in a month, the donation of about 17 crores has been received to the temple. The trust has said to take the support of 500 and 1000 old notes donated to provide financial relief to the temple. These notes have come out after the demonetization of November 2016 and handling it has become a big problem for the trust. Recently, in a conversation with a website, sources connected with the temple said, 'These notes were being collected through donations in a long time. Due to the lockdown, no decision could be taken about it.'

The temple trust says, 'if it can be done keeping in mind the special circumstances, then it can be quite a relief for the temple'. Now the most important question that arises is whether the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accepts the request made by the Trust or any other solution will be found out…?
