Tirupati: A 'Vanta-Varapu' rally was organized by Telugu Desam Party workers in GD Nellore where gas cylinders and two wheelers were placed on a bullock cart and a donkey was garlanded. Criticizing the government for the price hike, the leaders demanded the resignation of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for failing to control the prices of essential commodities in the state. Party workers protested at the headquarters of all the constituencies of the district against the rising prices of petrol, diesel and essential commodities in the state.

The in-charges of the constituency staged a sit-in in their respective areas. Party workers actively participated in large numbers in all the constituencies and raised slogans against the government. In their speeches, the leaders also attacked the state government for imposing a tax on garbage collection and for not providing any relief to the people from the heavy tax burden of fuel and essential commodities. After coming to power, the YSRCP government has increased the burden on electricity, sand, liquor, LPG, petrol, diesel, property tax among many others.

If the government does not take steps to bring down the prices, the TDP will intensify the agitation. He also criticized the central government for the steep hike in petrol prices. People from border areas are crossing state borders to fill petrol and diesel in Tamil Nadu border. The leaders warned that the TDP would stand with the people and fight against rising prices.
