TMC's Anarul Haque arrested hours after bombs blast in Samserganj

Kolkata: In West Bengal, polling for Jangipur and Shamsherganj assembly seats in Murshidabad district, including high profile Bhavanipur, has also witnessed violence since morning. In Shamsherganj assembly constituency, bombs blast were reported before voting began. A local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader has been arrested in connection with the incident. The accused leader's name is Anabul Haque.

Shortly before the voting began, Anabul is accused of throwing bombs to create panic among the people. Similarly, Congress has been accused of attacking the house of TMC activist Ziaur Rahman at Ghanshyampur in Shamsherganj with weapons. The victim has lodged an FIR against Congress candidate Zaidur Rahman at the police station. With this, TMC shamsherganj seat candidate Amirul Islam has been accused of influencing voters. The Election Commission has summoned a report in the matter.

Murshidabad district has already been sensitive. Bengal has a long history of electoral violence. There was also heavy bloodshed during the last assembly elections. The violence continued even after the elections. Many people had to flee and take shelter in neighbouring states as well. In Bengal, the post-election violence case is still going on in the Kolkata High Court and the Supreme Court.
