Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose, alleging his "illegal interference" in the upcoming General Elections to the Lok Sabha 2024. The party accuses Governor Bose of attempting to establish a parallel office akin to that of the chief poll body.
In its complaint, the TMC urges the ECI to restrain Governor Bose from running what it terms a "parallel electioneering system" under the name and style of "Log Sabha." The party alleges that Governor Bose has initiated the launch of a Lok Sabha portal, purportedly for direct communication with the public during the electoral process. According to the complaint, the TMC asserts that Governor Bose's actions constitute a violation of the Model Code of Conduct announced by the ECI. The party contends that the Governor's initiative of "Log Sabha" is an improper and unauthorized attempt to supervise the elections, infringing upon the jurisdiction and authority of the ECI.
The TMC's complaint underscores the importance of maintaining the integrity and impartiality of the electoral process, calling for strict adherence to established protocols and regulations governing election procedures. It expresses concern over any potential disruption or interference in the electoral process, emphasizing the need for transparent and fair elections in West Bengal.
The complaint signifies the TMC's commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring the sanctity of the electoral process. It underscores the party's vigilance in safeguarding the rights of voters and preserving the integrity of democratic institutions against any perceived infringement or manipulation.
