Another blow to Mamata, MLA Dipak Haldar resigns

Kolkata: Before the West Bengal assembly elections, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Deepak Haldar has joined the BJP, leaving CM Mamata Banerjee. Today, he joined the BJP at a rally in Baruipur. On Monday, MLA Deepak Haldar from Diamond Harbor resigned from TMC. He sent his resignation through Speed Post. Today along with Deepak Haldar, many other leaders of South 24 Parganas joined the BJP at the Baruipur rally.

On Deepak's resignation from the party, TMC Rajya Sabha member Shantanu Sen had said, "We already knew about Deepak Haldar that he can move away from TMC. People who are changing the party before the elections, their relationship I know very well. They are not going to get much benefit in elections." In recent days many MLAs of TMC have left the party and gone to BJP. Rajib Banerjee relinquished the post of minister in the West Bengal government on 22 January and resigned after meeting the speaker.

On 23 January, Vaishali Dalmiya was expelled by TMC due to anti-party activity. Apart from this, on 26 January, Prabir Ghoshal resigned from two posts of TMC. He resigned as the core committee of Hooghly district and spokesman of Hooghly district. All these leaders have joined the BJP.
