New Delhi: A delegation of more than 15 Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs is expected to arrive in Delhi tonight to meet with Union Home Minister Amit Shah about alleged police violence in Tripura. The MPs will sit on a dharna in the national capital beginning tomorrow morning, according to the news reports.

"The TMC has been subjected to brutal attacks. Even members of the media were harassed, and arrests on false allegations were made "Derek O'Brien of the TMC sent a tweet to Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting an appointment for TMC MPs.

On Sunday, Tripura police detained actor-turned-TMC leader Sayani Ghosh on attempted murder charges after she allegedly disrupted a meeting of state Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday night by chanting "Khela Hobe." The detention and alleged attack on TMC employees by unknown persons whom the Trinamool Congress thinks to be BJP supporters occurred less than 24 hours before Mamata Banerjee's party's national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to arrive in Agartala to help the injured party workers.

According to police sources, Abhishek's plan to conduct a demonstration in Agartala has been rejected due to "current Covid regulations." Ghosh, the TMC West Bengal youth unit secretary, was detained after being summoned to a police station in Agartala for questioning, according to a police official. According to party sources, a group of TMC MPs would fly to Delhi on Sunday night to meet with Home Minister Amit Shah to protest alleged police atrocities in Tripura.
