After a video of an auto driver being manhandled by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker V Kailas rounding on social media, TN BJP Chief T Soundararajan gave the explanation on the same on Tuesday.

Addressing to the reporters she said that media is projecting her, adding “ if I was smiling when he was beaten up. I had heard his question; coincidently media's question was the same, so I was answering. I didn't notice what happened behind me”.

In the internet hit video, Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Tamilisai Soundararajan was seen addressing reporters after participating in a Ganesh Chaturthi procession in Saidapet. While she was listening to a reporter's question, an auto driver pushed and hit by BJP leader who standing behind her questioned the BJP leader on the price of fuel.

Citing the reason of alcohol, she further said, “It was my co-worker who pushed him aside as he (auto driver) was under influence of alcohol. But it was projected as if I was smiling. If it happened it's wrong, but he was removed because people around me were concerned about others' safety too”.

The video came as a huge awkwardness for the ruling Bhartiya Janta party that is putting rigorous efforts to connect with the Tamil voters ahead of general election in 2019.
