CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (StartupTN), which was formally launched by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday, has distributed unique packages of assistance for Green Tech, Rural Impact, and Women-led enterprises.

In order to connect startups and prospective mentees with mentors who have extensive experience in their fields in India and throughout the world, he also developed a portal called startuptnmentors.com.

Startups that met the requirements for the Tamil Nadu Startup Seed Grant Fund received checks from the Chief Minister (TANSEED). He distributed the first batch of 1.25 crore, or 5 lakh each, to 25 businesses. After they meet the predetermined benchmarks, the second tranche of 5 lakh rupees would be given to them. Seven of the 25 businesses were in the green technology sector, eight had a rural impact, and ten were managed by women.

There was also StartupTN Mission Director and Chief Executive Officer Sivarajah Ramanathan, Chief Secretary V. Irai Anbu, MSME Secretary V. Arun Roy, and Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises T.M. Anbarasan.
The Tamil Nadu government established TANSEED to provide early stage entrepreneurs with a seed grant of up to 10 lakh each. In three TANSEED editions, sixty startups have won grants and benefited from them.

Exclusive co-working spaces will be made available at government-supported incubation facilities for women-led enterprises as part of the special packages. For the first year (up to 2 lakh rupees), these facilities shall be offered without charge for rent or membership. Among the advantages for women-led firms are a customised entrepreneurship training programme, a special women's mentorship programme, and a portal incorporating startup ecosystem enablers.

Other significant support provided by the package includes a yearly acceleration programme for female-led and FemTech firms as well as targeted investor circles under the Tamil Angels platform. To receive these incentives, companies must be co-founded or owned by a group of women who have a minimum equity stake of 75% in the company.
