USA: The US military is in charge of the war game that is being used to train Ukrainian officers. According to the Pentagon, war games will enable commanders to make wiser choices on the battlefield.

The action comes at a time when senior US officials say Washington has little influence over Kiev's war plans with Russia.

The tabletop training sessions began this week at a US Army base in Wiesbaden, Germany, and will last for several days. Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, visited the base on Thursday and attempted to downplay US involvement.

What we're doing is setting up structures and mechanics so that Ukrainians can learn for themselves, against a given situation or against different scenarios."

Reuters said the scenarios to be presented to Ukrainian officials would include a "thought exercise to evaluate possible military courses of action", despite officials refusing to provide further details.

The most recent training exercise comes after another round of US-led joint weapons training for Ukrainian troops elsewhere in Germany.

During that training, Ukrainian soldiers learned to use a variety of American-made weapons, including Bradley Fighting Vehicles that had been provided to Kiev in an earlier arms deal.

Moscow has warned against such training and arms shipments on several occasions, claiming they will only prolong the conflict and prevent a diplomatic solution.

Dmitry Medvedev, Russia's former president and current deputy of the Russian Security Council, said on Thursday that Washington and its allies should be seen as direct participants in the conflict if they "provide weapons in addition to supplying personnel to operate them." supply." weapon, weapon."

Medvedev insisted that everyone who decided to distribute or repair those weapons, as well as foreign mercenaries and military trainers, should be considered legitimate military targets, adding that Kiev was provided with Western warplanes. Doing so would also be a major "red line" for Russia.
