Mumbai: The Public Interest Litigation of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh will be heard in the Bombay High Court today. In this PIL, Param Bir Singh has challenged his transfer. Also, an inquiry has been sought against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh for his alleged recovery from policemen. A total of four prayers have been put in this PIL.
Ahead of the hearing, the Maharashtra government announced a high-level inquiry committee to highlight the reality of the allegations made by Singh against Anil Deshmukh. The one-man inquiry committee will be headed by retired High Court Judge Kailash Chandiwal. The commission will submit its report to the government within six months under the supervision of retired High Court Justice Kailash Chandiwal. The Commission will investigate the recovery charges against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. CM Uddhav Thackeray had decided to conduct an inquiry into the matter. Which was reported by Anil Deshmukh himself.
After being removed from the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner, Param Bir Singh had written a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray. The letter claimed that Sachin Vaze, a police officer caught in the Antioch case, was given a target of recovery of Rs 100 crore per month. The target was given by Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
