After Krishna Nagar earned a gold medal at the current Paralympic Games on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah lavished accolades on the Indian shuttler.
Shah took to Twitter, wrote: "Krishna Nagar has done an excellent job. Many congrats on winning gold in the men's singles SL6 badminton category at the #Paralympics. You have brought honor to the country."
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot hailed the achievement as "superb." He wrote on Twitter, "A fantastic achievement in which we take great pride! A huge congrats to him on his incredible achievement!!" Krishna won the gold medal in the men's singles SH6 final after defeating Chu Man Kai 2-1.
In a three-set battle on Court 1, the second-seeded Indian defeated Chu Man Kai 21-17, 16-21, 21-17 in 43 minutes. This is India's sixth gold medal in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
The Indian shuttler says his biggest dream has been fulfilled. "My sports journey started when I made my debut in para-badminton. And today my biggest dream has been fulfilled of winning gold at Paralympics," Krishna told ANI in an interview after the gold medal win. Krishna said he was determined to win the final set after going down in the second essay in the summit clash.
