Bhadrachalam: Bhadrachalam ASP Dr G Vineet said that 141 personnel of police and CRPF arrested six militia members of banned Maoist party in a search operation near Pusugupa village bordering Chhattisgarh at around 6 am. Seeing the police, the Maoists tried to run away but were chased by the police and taken into custody.

The ASP said that out of the six militia members of the Maoist party who were arrested by Cherla Police from Usuru block of Rampur village in Chhattisgarh state on Friday, five accused were identified as K Aduma, M Joga, M Bandi, M Unga, M Sannu. and all of them are below 17 years of age. He said that during interrogation all the six confessed that they were working for the banned Maoist party for the last three years. He also admitted his involvement in several attacks by the Maoist party. The accused were produced before a magistrate, from where they were sent to judicial custody.

Last month in August, the Maoist Manala Special Zone Maoist Committee left a letter bearing the flags of its party at the Gram Panchayat office at Bhukyareddy Thanda in Konaraopet mandal of the district. In the letter, the Maoists have asked the residents of Thanda to plow the outskirts of the village. The local police recovered Maoist material which had created a sensation in the district.
