Kolkata: The results of the West Bengal elections are due today and it will be decided today who will be the king of Bengal. Though all eyes are on Nandigram's seat at the moment, there are many seats where the prestige of the veterans is at stake. This includes Tollyganj. BJP had fielded Union Minister Babul Supriyo here and counting of votes is currently underway. BJP's Babul Supriyo is leading in the trend so far and TMC's Arup Biswas was in the election summer against him.

He was looking after Mamata Banerjee's government as PWD minister. In fact, the CPM from Tollyganj, which is known as the stronghold of the Bangla cine industry, has fielded active Debdoot Ghosh in the election summer. You must be aware that the name of The Bengali Film Industry Tollywood is also based on it. So far, it has been believed that the one who has been in control of the film industry has been winning the seat and the seat went to the polls on April 10. The BJP has so far fielded an army ranging from cricketers to stars.

Coming to the Tollyganj seat, the CPM has dominated it since the early 1960s. The scenario had changed since the Congress' victory in the seat in 1996 and non-Left parties also came into the fray. Since 2001, the seat has emerged as a strong stronghold of the TMC and has a large number of Bangladeshi refugees.
