Tollywood is also involved in the drugcase. The Prohibition and Excise Department investigated the sensational drug case, which is alleged to have been associated with many people in the Telugu film industry. So far 12 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act. The charge sheets were filed in eight cases, while The Forum for Good Governance Secretary M Padmanabha Reddy said in reply to a petition filed under the RTI Act, Excise Assistant Commissioner J Harikishan said.

Out of these 12 cases, four cases are believed to be related to the personalities of the Telugu film industry. It should be noted that 11 film personalities and a film actor's driver had been issued notices and called to their office for questioning. They all attended the question. In addition to these 11, the excise authorities also examined 62 persons in connection with the case of LSD and MDMA drugs.

However, over a month of surveillance on drug peddlers in 2017, the department launched repressive measures against drug sellers. As part of the investigation, many film personalities have come to light. Some drug users have also received a ban after ordering online using darknet. At that time, foreign citizens were also detained in connection with the case.
