Top Maoist supporter Varavara Rao arrested, raid on houses of others

New Delhi: The Pune police on Tuesday held several raids in Hyderabad, Goa, and Ranchi on the houses of apex Maoist supporters. This is a second major onslaught by the Pune police following the raids in April connecting the dots following the hostility that shook Bhima Koregaon. This subsequently led to proof pointing towards a likely attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ahead of multi-city raids Maoist sympathiser Varavara Rao was detained from Hyderabad. While Maoist supporter - Gautam Navlakha arrested in New Delhi. Several reports connected the arrest of the Maoist supporters to indication pointed towards a conspiracy to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi was exposed in Pune.

Earlier the Pune Police had submitted letters to a local court in Pune . These letters said to have been held from the laptop of Rona Wilson. He is Delhi-based human rights activist, , in a case related to the Bhima-Koregaon violence that took place on 31 December 2017 and 1 January 2018.

Professor Varavara Rao has been produced before Nampally court, after a formal medical check-up at Gandhi hospital. He is expected to be taken to Pune for further inquiring.

This deals with some well educated (persons) trying to broaden anti-national sentiments. They were working in some tribal areas. Police action is based on proof, said Maharashtra Minister Deepak Kesarkar.
