The Sequoia, which is primarily aimed at North American and Middle Eastern left-hand drive markets, has replaced the Land Cruiser 200 as Toyota's premier SUV in the United States, as the firm has no intentions to introduce the Land Cruiser 300 there.

The new Sequoia shares certain components with the Toyota Tundra pickup truck, as well as the new Land Cruiser 300 and the Lexus LX600 luxury SUV. The Sequoia has independent front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension system. Optional features include adaptive dampers and a load-leveling air system for the back.

The SUV has a rugged aspect throughout thanks to its butch style and high posture. The grille design varies per variation and affects the SUV's front look. It has squarish wheel arches and strong fenders. With a tapering rear glass, the D-pillar has a forward angle. The Tundra shares certain interior parts as well. The SUV comes with three rows of seats on all models, including captain's chairs in the second row on some models.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, heated seats, a sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic-view camera system are all standard on the Sequoia. The size of an infotainment screen can range from 8 inches to 14 inches. A single 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine is available under the hood. The i-Force Max engine replaces the V8 seen in the previous-generation Sequoia and produces 437 horsepower. The single transmission option is a ten-speed automatic. For all trim levels, customers may choose between a two-wheel-drive system and a part-time four-wheel-drive system. Only 4WD is available with the TRD Pro package.

The TRD Off-Road Package is available on select four-wheel-drive models. A locking rear differential, 18-inch wheels, the Multi-Terrain Select system, downhill assist control, and crawl Control are all included. Bilstein shocks and upgraded springs are also available.
