HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday asked the Centre to stop making mere statements on Kaleshwaram project and take action against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
The Congress leader responded to Shekhawat's statement on Twitter. "True! Kaleswaram has evolved into KCR's ATM. True! KCR Kaleswaram was constructed for commissions. A design error caused Kaleswaram to submerge...True! You do nothing about KCR's corruption and theft... Another clear fact is this "Revanth Reddy, a parliamentarian, wrote the article.
The Central Minister should stop making remarks and start taking decisive measures, the Congress leader suggested.
Shekhawat claimed that Kaleshwaram was constructed using the incorrect design while speaking to a crowd at a BJP-organized public event on Tuesday in Yadadri.
He said that the project was constructed without obtaining any approvals, including environmental clearance, and that it has been utilised as a cash cow.
He responded to KCR's request for national status in Kaleshwaram by saying that he wants the status to hide shortcomings and corruption and to give the project national project status.
Shekhawat also criticised that due to wrong design and faulty engineering, three pump houses of the project submerged in recent Godavari floods.
