BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on Saturday that the Indian Embassy is following and tracking students trapped in Ukraine's Kharkiv and Kiev cities. Many students have been returned to India, but the Embassy is tracking and tracing a few others who have been unable to travel, he said.
"There are only a few sites where bombing continues. Evacuation is being planned immediately after the bombing stops. I'm in contact with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine, and Union ministers stationed along the border "the Chief Minister said.
Bommai also stated that he would pay a visit to the home of Naveen Shekarappa Gyanagoudar, who was killed by Russian Army shelling in Ukraine. "I'll speak with the father of deceased pupil Naveen and provide the family with the settlement check," he said.
Up until Friday, 282 Karnataka students have returned from the war-torn Ukraine. 92 Kannadiga students returned to Bengaluru's KempeGowda International Airport (KIA) on Friday, according to Nodal Officer Manoj Rajan.
