New Delhi. The Russia-Ukraine war continues for the ninth day today. So far, more than 17,000 Indians have been evacuated from Ukraine. But a large number of Indians are still stranded there. Due to the war, many Indians are stranded not only inside Ukraine but also at sea. According to a report, at least 21 Indian sailors are currently waiting to leave the port of Southern Ukraine's Mykolaiv.

The port is in the Black Sea, but Indian sailors have been trapped in the cargo ship since February 25 due to the blockade in the area after the war. Where Indian cargo ships are stranded, there are at least 25 others. The Port of Mycolyve in the Black Sea is the major transit point, where the Russian army is now in a strong position. So many ships in Mycolyve have lowered their masts by hiding their nationality and are hoisting the flag of Marshalls Island.

Of the 21 Indian crew members stranded on board, four are from Maharashtra. One of them, while speaking to the media, said that they had decided to stay on the ship on the instructions of the ship's owners and local agents. These people are providing them with logistics etc. DG and V.R. of Shipping & Manning Agency. Maritime is in touch with Indian diplomats and the Ministry of External Affairs to evacuate the sailors safely. The consignment of maize was unloaded from the ship and docked at Mykolive on February 22. It was supposed to be sold on February 25, but on February 24, Russia's invasion of Ukraine began, leading to a blockade in the area.
