KATHMANDU: Sita Dahal, the beloved wife of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda," breathed her last on July 12, succumbing to a rare neurological condition she had been battling for an extended period.

At the age of 69, Sita, who had been ailing for a considerable time, passed away at Norvic International Hospital in Kathmandu. She had been receiving treatment at the hospital, where her demise was confirmed by doctors at 8.33 am, as conveyed by her press coordinator, Surya Kiran Sharma.

Sita's health challenges included Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Parkinson's disease, diabetes, and hypertension, as stated in a bulletin released by the hospital. Progressive supranuclear palsy is an uncommon neurological disorder that affects balance, movement, vision, speech, and swallowing.

On Wednesday, her deteriorating health condition necessitated her admission to the hospital.

Prime Minister Prachanda and Sita had three daughters and one son. Unfortunately, their eldest daughter, Gyanu Dahal, and son Prakash Dahal have already passed away.

Sita leaves behind Prime Minister Prachanda and their two daughters, Renu and Ganga. Currently, Renu Dahal serves as the Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

The last rites of Sita will be performed at Aryaghat, located in the Pashupatinath Temple premises in Kathmandu, during the afternoon. It is a moment of profound grief and loss for the nation as it bids farewell to an esteemed individual.
