The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has given a recommendation on the reduction in the base price of the 5G spectrum. In such a situation, the estimate of starting 5G service in India soon has been increased. TRAI has recommended a 36 per cent cut in the base price of the spectrum auction. Trai's suggestion is being sent to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for approval. If the Department of Telecommunications accepts TRAI's suggestion, telecom companies are going to have a less financial burden. In such a situation, it is expected that the value of 5G service can remain low in India. TRAI has proposed to give 30 years' time to telecom companies for spectrum payments.

Last time many bands were not sold: According to the news, many spectrum bands could not be sold in the spectrum auction process last time. This time, TRAI is also demanding a reduction in the base price of the spectrum bands. Which has been demanded by telecom companies for a long time. TRAI has also appealed for the reserve price of the auction of the 5G spectrum (3300-3670 MHz) at Rs 317 crore for all telecom circles across the country.   Not only this, in 2018, TRAI had kept the base price at Rs 492 crore per MHz, which has been cut by about 36 per cent.

These bands will be auctioned: The existing 700MHz, 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, 2300MHz and 2500MHz bands are going to be auctioned. Also, the new spectrum bands of 600MHz, 3300-3670MHz and 24.25-28.5GHz are going to be auctioned. While 10MHz and 50MHz have been recommended to keep the block.
