On Saturday, the Railways ran 10 more special trains to evacuate the trapped workers in various cities of the country. In these trains run for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa, about 10,000 workers and students left for their destination.

According to a senior railway official on this matter, these trains were run from 8 states Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Director General of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Arun Kumar said that we had planned to run 20 special trains on Saturday. Apart from the 5 southern states, these were to be operated from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Preparations were made to carry one thousand passengers in all trains. The state from which demand is coming, we are providing trains. However, later railway officials said that only 10 trains could run on Saturday. 5 trains were run from Kerala alone while two trains were run from Gujarat. One was run from Sabarmati station near Ahmedabad to Agra and one from Surat to Puri.

More trains are becoming difficult to handle due to more time spent in the safety check of the workers. The trains which were not able to leave on Saturday, will now leave on Sunday. Five of the trains which were run on Friday, will be run daily at present. The number of trains will be increased gradually on the demand of the states. All these trains have 24 coaches of sleeper coaches.
