New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is going to hoist India's tallest national flag tricolour at the Attari border. The height of this tricolour will be 418 feet. NHAI has also made full preparations for this. An NHAI official said that since getting approval from the central and state governments, work is being done by the contractor to install the tricolour continuously. The special thing is that after putting this flag, the height of the tricolour at the Attari border will be higher than the flag of Pakistan.
Let us inform you that 360 feet high tricolour was installed at the Attari border in 2017 at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore. In such a situation, imitating India, Pakistan also hoisted the 400 feet long tricolour in the opposite direction in front of the Wagah check post in August the same year. However, after the installation of the new tricolour, our national flag will be 18 feet higher than the Pakistani flag. In such a situation, it is believed that the flag competition with Pakistan may intensify. NHAI official said that we have approved the contract to install the 418 feet tall tricolour flag. However, the place to put the flag has not been decided yet.
As suggested by Border Security Force (BSF) officials, it is likely to be installed near the visitors' gallery of the Joint Check Post (JCP). Due to the height of the gallery building, people who come to see the Beating Retreat ceremony do not see the current Indian flag properly. He has said that as of now he has no plans to change or remove the existing flag. A decision regarding replacement or removal can be taken after the new flag is installed. The project work is expected to be completed in a month, he said.
