Tripura: 92 pc journalists received first dose of COVID-19 vaccine: Report

AGARTALA: In collaboration with the Agartala Press Club, the Tripura government has thus far administered the first dose of COVID vaccine to as many as 92 percent of the journalists in the state, with many of them receiving the second shot as well, officials said here on Thursday.

The secretary of Agartala Press Club (APC), Pranab Sarkar, said that besides vaccinating the media persons, all the print and electronic media houses in Tripura are also being sanitized regularly. Sarkar said that so far, two journalists have succumbed to the deadly disease while 30 journalists have recovered from the virus. There are more than 250 members of the press club here, and 750 more scribes are working in districts, he said.

An immunization drive was conducted on the premises of Agartala Press Club, its secretary PranabSarkar said, adding that one more camp will be organised soon to vaccinate the remaining journalists.

The journalists' body has also distributed masks and sanitiser among media personnel across the state as part of precautionary measures. A team of the club has been monitoring the COVID situation in the state, he added.
