Tripura CM Manik Saha's resignation from Upper House

New Delhi: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Manik Saha on Monday announced his resignation as a Rajya Sabha member.  Saha, who just won the Assembly byelection for the Town Bardowali seat, handed in his resignation to M Venkaiah Naidu, the chairman of the Upper House.

In a series of tweets, he stated, "Today, I have submitted my resignation letter as MP, Rajya Sabha to the Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu ji. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, and party officials for giving him the chance to serve as Tripura's chief executive.

In March, Saha was elected to represent Tripura in the Upper House. He resigned as a member of the Rajya Sabha creating another vacancy in the Upper House. After his resignation was accepted, Rajya Sabha declared the position vacant. Biplab Kumar Deb had left the position before he took over in May.

Saha, who was recently elected to the Legislative Assembly of Tripura, met Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu to present his resignation. Saha contested the Assembly by-poll from the Bardowali constituency and won the polls by a margin of 6104 votes.
