Agartala: The state of Tripura mourns the sudden loss of Samsul Haque, a dedicated member of the CPI(M) and a respected MLA representing the Boxanagar Assembly Constituency. Haque passed away at the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) in the early hours of Wednesday, following a cardiac arrest.

At the age of 68, Haque left behind his wife, four sons, and numerous relatives, who are deeply saddened by his untimely departure. He had recently been elected to the assembly in March of this year, despite his long-standing affiliation with the CPI(M) since 1972. Haque's demise has reduced the strength of CPI(M) to 10 members in the assembly.

According to reliable sources within the CPI(M) party, Haque had arrived in Agartala the previous day with his daughter-in-law for medical treatment. Unfortunately, his health took a sudden turn for the worse around 2 AM while he was at the MLA hostel. Prompt action was taken by his colleagues and staff, who rushed him to the hospital, but it was too late. Haque was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The funeral proceedings for Haque will commence with his body being taken to the assembly house, where fellow legislators will have the opportunity to pay their respects to the departed soul. Subsequently, his mortal remains will be transported to the CPI(M) party office, where homage will be paid, and finally, he will be laid to rest in his native village of Kulubari, Sonamura, following the prescribed rituals.

The news of Haque's passing has evoked condolences from prominent figures in Tripura's political landscape. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Leader of the Opposition Animesh Debbarma, Speaker of the Assembly Biswabandhu Sen, Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul, and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman have expressed deep grief over the untimely demise of Samsul Haque, extending their heartfelt condolences to his grieving family.

Jitendra Chaudhury, the CPI(M) State Secretary and legislative party leader, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, and Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik have also conveyed their condolences, recognizing Haque's contributions and expressing their sorrow over his unfortunate demise.
