TRIPURA: The counting of votes in the northeastern states of Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland will take place on Thursday, March 2, under tight security. 

n February 27, state assembly elections were held in Nagaland and Meghalaya. On February 16, Tripura voters chose a new state government. On March 2, the results for the three states will be revealed simultaneously.

On the two days since February 16 during the election in Tripura, more than twenty people have been detained in 18 violent events. In Tripura, a total of 89.95% of the electorate cast ballots. While Meghalaya reported a voter participation of 76.27% and Nagaland had an overall voter turnout of 84%.

Security has been stepped up in all three states to ensure a peaceful vote-counting process. A senior official said that DGP Amitabh Ranjan will closely monitor the preparations being made in Tripura.

To make appropriate arrangements, key officials from Tripura, including the chief secretary, DGP, and chief electoral officer (CEO), have visited every district. Checkpoints have been set up around the state, and patrolling has been stepped up.

For 59 seats each in the two northeastern states of Nagaland and Meghalaya, a total of 352 individuals ran for office. According to exit poll results for the three states, the Bhartiya Janata Party is expected to keep control of Tripura, return to power in Nagaland, probably with a coalition, and strengthen its position in Meghalaya. Exit polls predict that the Congress will lose in each of the three states.

According to exit polls conducted by Axis My India, the BJP alliance is expected to win 36 seats in Tripura, while the Left Front would only be able to secure 6 to 11 seats.
