New Delhi: When the company last year removed the call recording feature from Android, Truecaller users were disappointed. After being absent from Android for a year, the feature is now back. The return is unique this time because Truecaller is introducing the feature to iOS as well. However, only premium users have access to it. Let's examine the functionality of Truecaller's call recording feature.

Google announced its decision to outlaw all apps with call recording functionality last year. The tech behemoth did this by restricting access to its Accessibility API.
Truecaller removed the functionality from its app shortly after Google made its announcement. It's interesting to note that Google hasn't altered its position on call-recording apps.Apple opposes such apps as well. How then did Truecaller smuggle the feature in?

To add call recording to its app, Truecaller has chosen to use "recording lines." An attribute offered by a cloud telephony provider is a recording line. This approach records the call in the cloud. It will then be delivered to the app. To accomplish this, Truecaller uses the technology of CallHero, a business it purchased last year.

The Truecaller call recording app is simple to use on Android. If you use Android, there are two ways to record calls. When using Truecaller as your default dialer, you can start or stop recording by pressing a specific button on the dialer. To start or stop recording, you can tap on the floating Truecaller button if you're using a different dialer.

On iOS, call recording is a little trickier. You must use the Truecaller app to call a recording line each time you want to record a call (incoming or outgoing). The calls need to be combined after you dial the recording line. Users on the receiving end will hear a beep on Android and iOS to let them know the call is being recorded.

With a small number of iOS users in the US, Truecaller has been testing the feature. All Android and iOS users in the nation now have access to it.
The Premium Connect and Premium Assistant plans include access to it. The feature will be made available in several nations, including India, which is Truecaller's largest market.
