Former President's Push for Bitcoin Mining on American Soil - Former President Donald Trump has voiced his desire for all remaining Bitcoin to be mined exclusively in the United States, amidst growing influence from the cryptocurrency industry in US politics. This comes as the industry faces increased scrutiny from regulators, following the 2022 bankruptcies of major crypto firms that shook investor confidence and exposed fraud.

Trump's Commitment to Bitcoin Mining

On Tuesday, Trump met with Bitcoin Magazine's CEO David Bailey and several prominent US Bitcoin miners. During the meeting, Trump pledged to advocate for Bitcoin mining both in Washington D.C. and on a global scale.

Industry Representation at the Meeting

The meeting included representatives from leading Bitcoin mining companies such as CleanSpark, Riot Platforms, Marathon Digital, and other prominent figures in the industry. Key attendees included S. Matthew Schultz from CleanSpark, Jason Les and Brian Morgenstern from Riot Platforms, Salman Khan from Marathon Digital, and Amanda Fabiano from Fabiano Consulting, formerly of Galaxy and Fidelity.

Trump's Social Media Announcement

Following the meeting, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to announce his stance, stating, "I want all remaining Bitcoin to be made in the USA," and emphasized that this move "would help us be energy dominant."

Industry's Political Influence

The cryptocurrency industry has been actively engaging US politicians as it seeks to navigate increased regulatory scrutiny. The bankruptcies in 2022 not only spooked investors but also revealed instances of fraud and misconduct, leaving millions of investors in financial distress.
