Washington: US president-elect Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris is going to take oath today, on US Inauguration Day 2021. It's been two months after Democrat Joe Biden has been elected as President defeating Republican Donald Trump in a closely-contested presidential election.
Joe Biden will take oath as the 46th President of the United States today. Biden has served the nation earlier as the vice president under Barack Obama's administration. He will now be the oldest person ever to be sworn in as the president of the country. Also, after the win, Biden announced Kamala Harris as the vice president who has become the first woman and first Black and Indian American to be elected and will take the oath today with President. The oath-taking ceremony scheduled for today which is after the recent attack on US Capitol hill will be a low-key affair amid reports of possible violence by pro-Trump supporters to disrupt the event. In the meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigation in its internal bulletins has warned of the potential for violence in Washington DC and at all 50 state Capitols.
Trump announced not attending Biden’s presidential inauguration. The outgoing President also appealed for "healing and reconciliation" and pledged a smooth transition of power to Biden. Whereas, newly elected president Biden called the outgoing President’s decision a "good thing" also added saying it is “one of the few things he and Trump have ever agreed on”.
