NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said  todaythat for a developed country, trust and credibility are essential, noting that the earlier governments failed to earn people's trust.

At a Vigyan Bhawan event celebrating the Central Vigilance Commission's (CVC) week of vigilance awareness, Modi said, "Earlier governments not only failed to trust people, they also lost their trust in them." For the past 8 years, we have been attempting to alter the system of pressure and shortage. The administration is working to close the supply-demand mismatch, he said.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also launched the Management System portal of CVC. He said, "Trust and credibility are vital for a developed India, and the three main strategies to combat corruption are technology, service saturation, and Aatmnirbharta."

For a developed India, Modi emphasised, "we must create an administrative ecosystem with zero tolerance for corruption."  He urged the CVC representatives in attendance to come up with a system of ranking departments according to the number of active corruption cases, and to publish the corresponding reports on a monthly or quarterly basis.

Institutions fighting corruption, like the CVC, don't need to be on the defensive, he suggested. The Prime Minister said, "When you act with conviction, the entire nation stands with you."

The Prime Minister addressed the concerning tendency, saying, "We have observed that corrupt individuals are frequently honoured despite being imprisoned even after being proven to be corrupt." "Indian society will not benefit from this predicament. Some still make arguments in support of the corrupt who have been convicted today. It is imperative that society educate these individuals and groups about their responsibilities. Your department's specific actions in this regard have been quite important as well, he said.

P.K. Mishra, the principal secretary to the prime minister, Jitendra Singh, the minister of state for personnel and parliamentary affairs, Suresh Patel, the cabinet secretary, and the vigilance commissioners P.K. Srivastava and Arvinda Kumar were also present on the occasion.
