The Powerful earthquake in the Aegean sea with a magnitude of 6.6 hits Turkey badly as the death toll rises to 94. To a surprise, a three year old girl was rescued from a collapsed building in the western Turkish city of Izmir on Monday. Monday is three days after the earthquake. Elif, 3 year old girl was pulled out of the rubble by the rescuers, and then taken to the ambulance in stretcher as emergency crews searched for survivors in eight other buildings.

On Saturday, Elif family, her two sisters and brother were found alive in the wreckage along with their mother. But one among the three children later died. It is the deadliest quake to hit Turkey in this decade and the death toll increased much. AFAD, Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said a total of 994 people had been injured in Izmir and around 150 people are still hospitalized. They believe roughly 20 people to be in the rubble of one of the city apartment blocks where searches were continuing.

It is said that State media authority has started legal proceeding on 52 people spreading rumours and criticize the government, 3 were arrested and 16 were detained. The last deadly quake was in 2011 when 500 people killed in the city of Van. The same 2020, in the month of January 41 people died in a quake in the eastern province of Elazig. The fact that Turkey is crossed by fault lines and is prone to earthquakes often. AFAD reported that more than 3,500 tents and 13,000 beds have been supplied as a  temporary shelter in Turkey, and nearly 8,000 personnel and 25 rescue dogs were involved in rescue and relief work.
