Jaipur: The Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan is facing a looming crisis following the defeat in the Panchayati elections. The Tribal Party of India (BTP) has withdrawn support from the Gehlot government in Rajasthan. Two BTP MLAs were consistently supporting the Gehlot government. Earlier this year, when the Gehlot government showed its strength in the Assembly, both the MLAs supported the Congress government.

Congress has lost several seats in the panchayat Samiti elections. BTP MLAs had alleged that Congress did not join it in the elections and cheated it. The BJP has won 1833 seats in the Panchayat elections, while the Congress has won 1713 seats. The BJP's performance in the district chief's elections was much better than Congress.

The withdrawal of support from two MLAs will not have any significant impact on the Ashok Gehlot government because Congress has a majority in the state. But there is a by-election in some assembly seats which may cause problems to Congress. Rajasthan has a total of 200 assembly seats, out of which the Gehlot government now has 118 seats. However, many of these include independent MLA. Earlier, CM Ashok Gehlot had expressed apprehension that the state had once again started trying to topple the government.  According to Gehlot, the BJP may once again try to form a government in Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
