Panaji: Amid the Bharat Jodo Yatra being taken out by Congress, the party condition seems to be worsening in Goa. In fact, the Goa Congress, which was on the verge of a split in the legislature party about two months ago, is keeping an eye on the next move of its two senior MLAs. It is being speculated that these two MLAs can rebel from the party at any time.

Earlier in the week, there was speculation in the state's political circles about senior Congress MLAs and former chief ministers Digambar Kamat and Michael Lobo quitting the Congress. In July, Congress demanded the disqualification of the two leaders from the Assembly. They are accused of allegedly trying to induct eight of the party's 11 MLAs into the BJP. In such a situation, after the visit of Digambar Kamat and Michael Lobo to Delhi, the speculation about the next political move of the two leaders has intensified. However, Kamat says, "Whenever I go anywhere, be it Delhi, Mumbai or Nagpur, the media asks me the same question. I bear my own travel expenses. Should I tell them (media) every time where I go?"

When asked if he would continue in Congress, Kamat replied, "I am saying again that I am retired hurt right now. When I recover, I will return to active politics. I have also informed our leaders.'' Kamat was removed as a permanent member of the Congress Working Committee by Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on July 17.
