In Tamil Nadu, a case of carrying EVM on a scooty has been heard after voting for the assembly elections ended. The mob caught the people carrying EVM on the scooty. The case is in Velacheri, where two persons were carrying EVM on a scooty after the voting ended on Tuesday evening. The DMK (DMK) claims that these people are speculated to have done something wrong with the EVM. However, the men were spotted by the mob after which the police took them with them.

The uproar escalated when the police tried to remove 3 persons from the spot without any investigation. After which Congress workers started protesting. DMK leader and former Chennai Mayor MA Subramaniam sought clarification from the Election Commission on the entire case. As the case escalated, the state's chief electoral rights Satyabrata Sahu clarified that the EVM on scooty was election commission employees. He said that two of his employees had made this mistake and action orders have been issued. However, Sahu also said that these EVM were not used for voting.

According to the information received, 234 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu went to polls in a single phase on April 6. As per the information received so far, 72 in the State. 78% voting was recorded. It is necessary to win 118 seats for a majority here. In 2016, AIADMK formed the government by winning 134 seats. DMK got 97 seats.
