VADODARA: Three youths were reportedly detained in Gujarat's Vadodara on Monday: 1 for raping a minor girl and 2 for murder, police said.
In the first case, a police official at the Gotri police station said that the victim and the accused, Mohin Pathan, met while he was working in a car garage; they then became friends on social media and engaged in chats.
When the victim got home from tuition sessions on Saturday, Mohin invited her to his birthday party and took her to his house, where he raped and harmed her. After complaining on Sunday, her father was taken into custody on Monday.
In the case of the second murder, Assistant Commissioner of Police D.K. Rathod told the media that the suspect,
Shahrukh Pathan, killed Dakshaben Parmar on Saturday afternoon with the assistance of a friend after mistaking her for his previous mistress, her daughter-in-law.
Shahrukh admitted during initial interrogation that he had an affair with Bhavna before she wed Parmar's son Ashwin and severed all ties with him, said the ACP. However, he continued to phone her, and after she reported him to the police, Shahrukh was asked to report to the Manjalpur police station for a warning.
Rathod said, "Shahrukh also admitted to the police that he intended to kill Bhavna in order to exact revenge, but when he knocked on the door of the apartment, instead of her, her mother-in-law opened up, and out of rage and error, he slit her throat.
