The meeting, part of Sheikh Abdullah's working visit to Southeast Asian nations, saw both leaders exchanging wishes for the continued prosperity of their respective countries.

Marcos and Sheikh Abdullah engaged in discussions about bilateral relations, emphasizing ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, as both countries approach the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties.

The UAE hosts the largest overseas Filipino community, estimated at about 1 million expatriates, a number expected to grow as the Gulf country plans to hire more qualified Filipino healthcare professionals through a government-to-government hiring system.

Sheikh Abdullah expressed appreciation for the Filipino community's role in supporting the UAE's development plans across various sectors.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Obaid Al-Qataam Al-Zaabi, the UAE ambassador to the Philippines, and Saeed Mubarak Al-Hajri, assistant minister for economic and trade affairs.
