Ugadi or Yugadi is a Telugu New Year and celebrated by Telugu state peoples. This Year Ugadi is celebrated on April 13. Ugadi is observed with great enthusiasm by people in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. Ugadi is celebrated as beginning of new year and new life. Ugadi 2021 is the beginning of the Telugu Shaka Samvat 1943, according to the panchang in neighbouring Maharashtra, Ugadiis celebrated as Gudi Padwa or the Marathi New Year. This is the second consecutive year that a host of Indian New Years are being marked amid the raging Covid-19 pandemic.

Talking about the date and tithi of festive. Ugadi is festival that marked on the first day of the Shukla Paksha or Full Moon phase of Chaitra. Ugadi Pratipada Tithi begins at 8 AM on April 12. Ugadi Pratipada Tithi ends at 10:16 AM on April 13.

Significance of Ugadi is important for its celebration.  Ugadi celebration begin the day with the ritual of oil bath and wear new clothes. Ugadi celebration starts with consuming neem leaves to eat before starting the day. People visits temple and offer prayers but this year due to pandemic people offer pooja in home. People chant mantras of Brahma with turmeric rice (akshat) and jasmine flowers

Here in Ugadi special significance is for yellow flowers and rangoli known as Mugulu. So before Ugadi, homes are cleaned and decorated with fresh flowers and rangoli. Mango leaves are stringed together like a garland and tied at the front door. This is done as a symbol of happiness, prosperity and good fortune. In this day tastes are served as sweet, sour, bitter, pachadi serves in special way.
