New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued guidelines for the academic calendar and examination for the 2021-22 session. It said that all universities will have to conduct final year and semester examinations before 31st August 2021. the UGC has also directed for new admissions.

According to the guidelines, the admission of undergraduates in 2021 has been asked to comply with the apex court order. Under this, admissions will be started from 1st August after the release of the 12th results of CBSE, ICSE, and other State Boards. The new academic session will begin on October 1, 2021. All universities have been directed to complete the admission process by 30th September 2021. Time has been given till 31st October to fill up the vacant seats. For some reason, if the result of the examination of a 12th Board is delayed, the new session can be started from 18th October.

Understand the full guideline in 4 points
1. In view of corona infection, the university will not be able to charge cancellation fees from students who have canceled admission slated till 31st October.
2. A maximum of Rs. 1,000 can be charged as a processing fee from the student who has canceled admission by December 31.
3. The UGC has left it to the states to decide whether the session will run online or offline.
4. Academic calendars and guidelines have been issued after advice from educational bodies like NICTE, NCTE, BCI, NMC, DCI, NIC, PCI, and AYUSH.
