New Delhi: The Central Government is planning to implement the second phase of the Ujjwala scheme soon. It will also provide LPG connections to those who do not have a permanent address so far. This will benefit the poor living in cities and the laborers who go in search of employment in different parts of the country. It is in the race to be implemented soon. The pre-phase has been launched in May 2016.
Free LPG Connection: Not only that, the Ujjwala scheme was launched from Ballia in UP, under which LPG connections were provided free of cost to BPL people. The state-owned oil companies under the Petroleum Ministry are currently preparing the final draft of the second phase of Ujjwala. The major changes that will take place are going to reduce the need for a permanent address. While many people say what will happen in the second change, the second change will be that after a limited period of time, the option of extending or returning the connection is going to be given. Both these changes are being made keeping in view the need for workers working in remote areas. Under which one crore connections are likely to be provided.
Finance Minister Announced: It is learned that while presenting the General Budget 2021-22, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the expansion of Ujjwala, and also asked for one crore more connections under the new rules. As of 31st January 2021, 8.3 crores, BPL families in the country were provided LPG under Ujjwala connection. This has enabled 91 percent of the households in the country to have eco-friendly LPG.
