LONDON: Despite the fact that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce the repeal of all Covid restrictions in Parliament on Monday, scientists have advised caution.

According to the BBC, eliminating the limitations is part of Johnson's "living with Covid" policy, which would restore people's independence.  "As we begin to learn to live with Covid," Johnson added, the lifting of restrictions will be a "moment of pride."

He claimed the plan to exit the pandemic will help society "return to normalcy" after "one of the most trying periods in our country's history." Johnson also credited the idea to the Covid immunisation program's success, which he claimed had put England in a "good position to contemplate eliminating the remaining legal constraints."

He has maintained, however, that the pandemic is "not over," and that the plan for living with Covid will take a "conservative approach," with "some surveillance systems and contingency plans that can be built up if needed to respond to new varieties," according to reports.

According to official data, around 91 percent of persons in the UK aged 12 and up have had a first dose of a vaccination, 85 percent have received a second shot, and 66 percent have received a booster or third dose.
