KIEV: To make up for the harm caused by Russian assaults on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure, Ukraine needs the help of the European Union to acquire 2 billion cubic metres of gas and electricity for EUR 800,000.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in an online speech to the European Council, according to Ukrinform.

"Please keep up the good work so we can help the Ukrainian people's access to energy. And I want to thank each and every one of you who has already contributed by providing equipment and money. But now, more action must be taken in order for the upcoming six months to go smoothly, "the president remarked.

He highlighted that Ukraine needed assistance in order to buy the amount of gas required to make up for the harm caused by Russian attacks on other forms of generating. He estimates that the amount of gas is around 2 billion cubic metres.

Zelensky said that the EU must currently provide electricity to Ukraine at a cost of about EUR 800,000.

"We need your help now to get through this winter, just as we will be able to assist you with the export of electricity once we restore our generation. We are discussing the provision of electricity, which costs roughly 800 million euros "He emphasized.
